Rebecca is a lifelong resident of Utah. She grew up in Midvale and moved to West Valley City in 1988 when she married her husband, Mark Ipson. She graduated from Snow College, then transferred to the University of Utah where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. She was a computer programmer at Beneficial Life Insurance Company until she decided to stay home and raise her children. Rebecca and Mark have five children and several grandchildren. All of their children have attended college. In 2007, Rebecca began working part-time at West Lake Junior High as a classroom aide. For 10 years she worked with ESL students. Then, she began working with resource students, which she still does. This is the first time that Rebecca has run for office. She believes it is good for voters to have a choice and is disappointed when someone runs unopposed. She has been a delegate to the county and state Republican conventions as well as a precinct officer. Through the years, Rebecca has been involved in service. She was a missionary for her church in Argentina and still speaks a little bit of Spanish. In West Valley, she was an officer in the PTA at Stansbury Elementary, she has been a cubmaster, and she currently volunteers teaching piano lessons at the Community Resource Center in her neighborhood. She enjoys reading, knitting, crocheting, and singing. |
